Maine Chance stallion Vercingetorix has struck international gold in Hong Kong, when his son Super Commander, already a 3-time winner of distances up to 1200, won the Po Lam Handicap over 1000m at Happy Valley. Out of the Captain Al mare War Path, Super Commander gained his Black type here in South Africa, with a 2nd place in the Cape Of Good Hope Nursery (Gr.3), before being exported overseas.

Vercingetorix himself was not only a Group One winner in South Africa (Daily News 2000), but he also showed his toughness and versatility with Group wins in Dubai, Hong Kong and Singapore, winning up to distances of 2000m. A Leading First Season Sire South Africa in 2018/2019 as well as Champion Sire of 3yo’s in 2019/2020, he is the sire of 105 winners with a 61% strike rate, and is definitely a worthy successor to his great sire Silvano, and is able to get progeny to win from sprinting to staying distances.
