Newsells Park Stud enjoyed outstanding results at the Tattersalls Book 1 Sale this week finishing as the leading vendor with an aggregate of 8,160,000gns, and an average of 429,474gns for 19 lots sold.

The highlight being the sale topper and highest priced auction yearling in the world this year, Lot 304, a daughter of Dubawi out of Loveisallyouneed, a daughter of the wonderful mare Jude, selling to MV Magnier for 2.1 million guineas.

MV Magnier was buying on behalf of Richard Henry, boss of Coolmore’s advertising arm Primus Advertising and said: “This is a lovely filly, a great mover with a lot of quality.”

Julian Dollar, Newsells Park Stud general manager said: “I do think it was the nicest crop of foals we have had – we’ve then had a clear run through with them all. Gerry [Meehan, yearling manager] took them over and he and the team have done a fantastic job. They have worked hard – we’ll enjoy this!”

Newsells Park Stud also sold the top price yearling on the final day of Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale with Lot 439, the Street Cry sister to the Group 2 Middleton Stakes winner and Oaks runner-up Secret Gesture being knocked down to Charlie Gordon-Watson for 800,000gns.  This daughter of the Danehill mare Shastye was secured by Gordon-Watson after a prolonged battle with the underbidder John Ferguson. “She is a beautiful filly, out of an incredible mare,” said Gordon-Watson. “I bid on the half-brother Maurus, who has gone to Australia and is doing well, and I think her three-year-old Galileo brother Sir Isaac Newton will come good. She has been bought for an existing client.”

In addition, the stud sold two yearlings for 725,000gns at Tattersalls this week.  Lot 203 the Dubawi half-brother to the Group 3 winner and Group 1-placed Best Name sold to Armando Duarte of A & E Bloodstock, who said: “He is a good-looking colt, who ticks all the boxes. He is for a client with Roger Varian.”

On the first day of the sale, Lot 24,  Legatissimo’s half-sister by Redoute’s Choice was purchased by MV Magnier for 725,000gns.  Magnier confirmed that Legatissimo will stay in training at four, to date she has won the Gr.1 1000 Guineas, Qatar Nassau Stakes and the Coolmore Fastnet Rock Matron Stakes, and she now bids for a hat-trick of consecutive Group 1 wins in the Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Turf on Saturday 31st October.

MV Magnier said of her half-sister purchase: “We were lucky enough to buy Legatissimo at this sale two years ago and if this filly is half as good as her, we’ll be happy.  This family has been very lucky for us – you have Fame And Glory under the second dam – and this is a lovely filly.”

Newsells Park Stud would like to thank all the buyers and underbidders for the faith and support they have placed in our 2015 yearlings.  We wish them every success on the racecourse!
